Kiva.org-A Donation to Change Lives

Nothing…and I mean nothing…feels as good as giving to others in need.

It’s like an adrenaline boost to your soul and makes you feel good ALL over. If you’ve ever volunteered or donated time and/or energy to an organization or cause, you know what I’m talking about. I used to volunteer at Planned Parenthood and it’s one of the things I’m most proud of doing. I would leave the clinic each week with a total body high.

But life happens, and we get busy.  But still, that’s no reason not to donate some of our resources to others. The internet makes it super easy to give to charities and organizations.

Enter the site Kiva. It’s so cool, I just found out about it today and had to share it with you.

Here’s the basic gist:

Kiva allows you to give a loan to a person in a 3rd world country who wants to start a business. The website provides pictures and  profiles of men and women from around the globe who need your help.  The loan (as little as $25) is repaid back to you in a specific amount of time. You can then use that money to pay it forward again to another person in need (or you could recollect the funds if you so desire)

I just donated $25 to two women in Africa, one who wanted to buy supplies for her beauty company and another who was a widow with three children who needed money for repairs for her home.  And you know what…for $50, I feel really, really amazing.

Check out the site and find someone whose life you can change RIGHT NOW.  Share who you donated to!

“Nothing…and I mean nothing…feels as good as giving to others in need.” So TRUE!

Thanks for sharing about Kiva. I had heard of programs like this existing, but never knew any specific sites. What an amazing thing to be able to help someone achieve their dreams and potentially break out of the cycle of poverty for such a small amount. My heart is singing! =)
