Is agave evil?

Do you use agave nectar? Think it’s healthy?

Derived from the same plant that makes tequila, agave has won over the health world and is now becoming more mainstream. Agave is touted as being “healthier” than sugar…although it IS sugar, and for having a lower glycemic index than High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Dr. Mercola, holistic wellness internet guru, has a few words to say about agave nectar–and it ain’t praise! Read what he has to say here…it’s VERY interesting and perhaps will cause you to think twice before using it. I used to use agave, a lot, thinking it was healthier for me. But last year I heard some “underground” rumblings about agave and noticed the power of its very good marketing. I’ve pretty much stopped using it.

So, decide for yourself, but definitely give this a read.  Thoughts?

I’ve been following this issue too — and cut way back on my agave use. I’m leaning more towards Stevia now — what about you?

Yeah, I too have been cutting way back on agave…I hardly use it. Definitely stevia (though I dont use that either, really) or xylitol, which is popular.
